Dr. Atkins serves with Mesa Global as a New Testament professor at Tyndale Theological Seminary. Tyndale is an international seminary near Amsterdam that trains pastors, missionaries, church planters, Bible school faculty, and denominational leaders. Over 85 different nations are represented among Tyndale’s alumni. Most Tyndale students are gifted, bilingual leaders who come from countries (primarily in Africa, Asia, & Eastern Europe) where access to affordable theological education is limited or non-existent. Tyndale can offer these students scholarships because faculty raise their own support.
J.D. also preaches at local churches, works with Mesa Scholars to improve the quality of and access to theological education around the globe, and directs the Reassess Network, a global consortium that provides low-cost academic integrity resources to small evangelical colleges and seminaries.
Alice’s mission is to provide multicultural ministry training, raising the next generation of global leaders. She seeks to foster intercultural flourishing at all levels of ministry — whether it be individual leadership skills, team dynamics, or larger systems and organizations.
To that end, she equips international students, expats, church staff, and missionaries through her work with various ministries, e.g., Intervarsity Christian Fellowship/USA, the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES) Netherlands, Operation Mobilization (OM), Crossroads (XRDS) International Church, and Tyndale Theological Seminary in the Netherlands.
Alice is also currently pursuing a Doctorate in Global Leadership at Fuller Seminary. She is also a Certified Cultural Intelligence (CQ) professional.
Pray for J.D. Having 10-15 different nationalities in one classroom creates unique learning opportunities and teaching challenges. Pray that he and his students would humbly learn from each other and discern their own cultural biases in the interpretation of Scripture. Pray also for progress in his book-writing projects.
Pray for Alice as she continues to train people from many nations in cross-cultural ministry. Pray as she helps leaders learn to lead in multicultural and intercultural settings. Pray that her research and studies inform and enrich her teaching and training.
Pray for their two sons to grow in faith and wisdom. The older studies international business at the Free University of Amsterdam (Vrije Universiteit van Amsterdam). Pray especially for the youngest, who, because of chronic health problems, will be moving to online high school this year.
